Knoxville (WVLT) - Crime has struck once again near the University Of Tennessee's campus, this time involving two students.
The Knoxville Police Department says just after 11:00 Wednesday night, a student was approached on Forest Avenue by a suspect at knife point, who then demanded his car.
Police say the suspect left the car after realizing it was a stick-shift.
Minutes later, police say the same suspect threw a student out of her car on 21st and Grand, and took off in her vehicle.
Investigators say one of the students suffered a small cut to the hand, but otherwise neither was injured.
Just after midnight, officers spotted the suspect driving on Parkview and Spruce, where he was arrested.
That man was Devin Porter, 19 who was taken into custody without incident.
Police have charged him with theft and he had an outstanding warrant. He was not charged with the carjacking because police say another person took the car.
The investigation into the carjacker is ongoing.
