CARTHAGE, Tenn. (AP) -- A truck driver was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend who disappeared two years ago in Nashville.
The jury in Carthage deliberated five hours before finding Jeff Trusty guilty in the slaying of Christina Hunt of Nashville in the summer of 2005. He was sentenced to life in prison.
The 40-year-old Trusty, of Smith County had testified that Hunt died while they fought in her car. He said during the fight she stopped breathing and he tried to resuscitate her.
Prosecutor Sharon Reddick argued that Trusty killed her for breaking off their engagement.
Hunt disappeared after complaining that her ex-boyfriend was stalking her. Her body was not found until August 2005, six weeks after she disappeared.
Authorities believe she was abducted in Nashville.
