Jefferson County School Board Names Interim Director of Schools

Jefferson County (WVLT) - The Jefferson County school board has named a new interim Director of Schools.

Volunteer TV's Stephen McLamb has the details.

School board members just named Director of Facilities for the school district, Bill Nolen, as the Interim Director.

On Tuesday, the school board asked current Director Doug Moody to resign, after they did not renew his contract in January.

The sent a letter to the state asking them what their next step should be and were informed they had to name an interim superintendent while they searched for a permanent one.

During today's meeting, the board began discussing names for a possible interim director.

And one person named actually said he wasn't interested.

When Nolen was nominated, he wasn't actually at the meeting, so someone had to call him to find out if he was interested.

Stephen McLamb will have more details on this story, tonight on Volunteer TV News at 6:00>
