NWS: Tornado Touched Down In East Tennessee

Morristown (WVLT) -- A tornado touched down overnight in Southern Marion County according to the National Weather Service.

An NWS site team was dispatched to the damage area this morning in the Kimball community, where they determined an EF2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale had indeed touched down.

The tornado's path was 200 yards wide and two miles long.

Its top wind speeds were estimated at 130 MPH.

A tornado warning had been issued 40 minutes before touchdown.
