West Knoxville (WVLT) -- A University of Tennessee student has died in a wreck police say was alcohol related.
The Knox County Sheriff's Department says 21 year-old Adam Carter was driving his SUV at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning in West Knoxville.
They say he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road near the corner of Mont Glen Lane and Montlake Road and hit a tree.
Carter died at the scene.
A passenger in the vehicle and Carter's roommate, 21 year-old Dane Anderson, was taken to U.T. Medical Center to be treated for his injuries and has since been released.
Investigators say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
They also say Carter was driving on a restricted license.
Carter will be buried in his hometown of Huntingdon, in Carroll County.
The Dilday Funeral Home says the family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:40 p.m.
The funeral is on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
The burial will follow at the church's cemetery.
