Knoxville (WVLT) – The Executive Director of Keep Knoxville Beautiful has been named head of the Knox County Solid Waste program.
Tom Salter will begin his new job on December 10th.
The job gives him oversight of the county’s eight residential trash and recycling centers as well as the Solway composting and mulching facilities and various outreach and educational programs including the “Adopt a Road” project.
Salter is a University of Tennessee graduate and has been with Keep Knoxville Beautiful since 1997.
He has also lent his time to the Volunteers of American Family Emergency Shelter, Arts Council of Great Knoxville, UT Adult Reading Academy and DiscoverET.org
He takes over for John Evans who passed away last month.
Salter replaces John Evans who passed away last month. He is married to Joyce Hausman and has one daughter Larissa Justice who lives with her husband Ryan here in Knoxville.
