Sevierville, Sevier County (WVLT) -- Sevier County will see a lot of visitors in the coming days with plenty of theaters, events, and shopping.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any earlier, it has.
Friday is known as Black Friday, the official start of the Christmas shopping season.
At the Tanger Outlets in Sevierville, more than 80 of their 100 stores will open Friday morning at midnight.
"I start every year early if I can," said Peggy Booth.
Every year there are early shoppers and stores that want to accommodate them.
Black Friday means big bucks for the tourist areas like Sevier county.
Last year, 15 stores at Tanger Oakes opened at midnight Friday, this year it's 86.
Fossil is one of those getting ready for the midnight madness.
"You know, I've seen lines before 200 people deep, getting ready to go into stores and coming out of stores,” said Dennis Dillow, the Fossil’s general manager. “This is the first year for us opening at midnight."
How about instead of taking a nap after eating your Thanksgiving turkey, you head out to shop.
You can do just that places like Old Time Pottery.
"On Thanksgiving we're pretty much as busy as we are the day after," said Peggy Carver, the store’s supervisor.
So what brings people to stores at midnight or on a holiday?
Some businesses say it's the power of the bargain.
"We have a sale starting tomorrow, a real good sale,” said Carver. “Most of our Christmas merchandise is on sale tomorrow."
For the first time, Dollywood is open the day before Thanksgiving.
"Something new we've done this year and evidently people are glad,” said Ashley Adams, the publicity coordinator for Dollywood. ”They're just coming out and pouring in."
They also offer some things to do this weekend for those non-shoppers.
"We've got seven awesome Christmas shows so please come and see them,” Adams said. “We've got Babes in Toyland and it's he most elaborate stage show production we've ever done."
So can Christmas shopping get any earlier?
Well some are in favor of it.
"I don't mind it at all because I start thinking before Halloween," said Booth.
Dollywood is closed on Thanksgiving Day but open again on Saturday.
Tanger Sevierville’s general manager Judith Huskey says they'll even have prizes for the first three hundred people that come to the outlet office to shop Friday at midnight.
