Nashville (WVLT) -- While the chill is on in East Tennessee, you wouldn't believe how cold it is in Nashville.
DeAnn Stephens from our sister station WKYT has more details.
The folks at the Gaylord Opryland are gearing up for the holiday season with an ice extravaganza.
You might be surprised to find out who the star of the show is this year!
He's a character familiar to many and a storybook favorite.
This year, the Grinch is celebrating his 50th birthday by being immortalized in ice.
"The entire attraction this year is like you're walking through the Grinch Stole Christmas book," said Ken Groneck, with Gaylord Opryland. "We're expecting to attract people from the southeast as well as across the country. This is the only place in the U.S. where grinch is done in ice."
It's not just the kids who will enjoy the holidays in Nashville, adults can as well.
As the characters come to life in ice, Groneck says the ice comes to life as a playground, complete with ice slides.
The Ice Extravaganza runs through January 2nd.
There are many more activities taking place at the Gaylord Opryland including the Rockettes and the Pam Tillis Christmas Dinner Party.
