Knoxville (WVLT) - If you haven't started any of your Holiday shopping, it's time to make a plan. Last minute shopping can lead to impulse buys and a lot of headaches in the new year.
WVLT Volunteer TV's Liz Tedone has more on how you can make your dollar stretch .
We have 28 days to make a list that fits our budget and stick to it. So we went shopping with our style consultant Sherri Ailor to find the best buys.
Before you leave the house, you have to have a plan and it must include a budget and a list.
"Stick to it, figure out exactly how much you want to spend on each person, find out what they need and write it down," Ailor said.
Because if you don't...
"You'll get in a store, and you'll get overcome by everything, and you'll lose track of what you need to buy and how much you want to spend and it's so easy to get off track," Ailor said.
And remember to keep your coupons close. You can find coupons just about anywhere these days from store flyers, newspapers, even online. No excuses.
And don't pass up freebies. Like these slippers, they come with the bathrobe you're planning to get your mother, but what if you don't know what to get someone? Sherri says you can't go wrong with the basic crew neck or v-neck sweater for a man or woman. You can dress it up or down. Also, don't forget the sale racks of course. Even if all you're finding is the summer clearance because,
"When Christmas hits, you're only about 90 days away from warm weather," Ailor said.
Of course if you wait until the very last minute to do your shopping, it'll be difficult to stay under budget and on task.
