LOUISVILLE, KY. (AP) -- Wildlife crews are on the lookout for a whooping crane who strayed from a migrating flock somewhere northeast of Louisville.
The young male bird, dubbed "733" didn't keep up with 16 other birds being led south to winter habitat by an ultralight aircraft.
The missing bird has a radio transmitter, but crews haven't been able to find the signal, which can be detected for up to five miles.
Liz Condie of Operation Migration likens the search to finding a needle in a haystack.
