Rapper 'Birdman' Free On Bond After Drug Arrest

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) -- The rapper Birdman was released on bond early today in Kingsport --- a few hours after he and several others were charged with possession of marijuana.

The singer was taken into custody after the RV they were riding in was pulled over for making an improper lane change on Interstate 81.

The 38-year-old Miami-based rapper, whose real name is Bryan Williams, was charged with possession of more than a half-ounce of marijuana.

Bryan Williams was released on $1,500 bond around 1:30 a.m. today. Fifteen others arrested with him also were free on bond today.

Hits featuring Birdman include "Stuntin' Like My Daddy" and "Army Gunz."
