POLICE: Shooter At The Rush Will Face No Charges

Knoxville (WVLT) - The man police say the man who shot another man in the Rush at Knoxville Center Mall on Wednesday night will not face any charges.

Knoxville Police said when they arrived on scene, they found Erik Knight-Dockins, 29 shot in his abdomen in the gym’s bathroom.

Witnesses say Dockins had approached Kristopher Kitts, 29, in the facility and began choking him.

That’s when Kitts pulled out a small caliber handgun and shot Knight in the stomach.

He remains in critical condition at UT Medical Center.

Investigators said Kitts did have a permit to carry the gun and since it appears to have been in self defense, he will not be charged.

Charges may be pending against Knight-Dockins.

I am a 22 yr old female and i have a hand gun permit. i don't go out 'looking for a fight' and i don't have any enemies. if someone was to attack me i would not hesistate to defend myself. he did nothing wrong in my eyes. as for why he had his weapon in a gym, i carry my weapon everywhere i go except when it is prohibited by law (schools, courthouses, airports, etc.) you never know where you may be assalted or mugged. parking lots are the places where i feel most secure knowing i would be able to protect myself should the need arise. as for him "getting off scot free again" did mr. kitts have some sort of prior record with this sort of thing?

LOL He should be charged for carring a gun he had a permit for knowing someone might be after him? Are you serious? You think he should have gone unarmed even after the guy tried to choke him? He would have somehow been morally superior because he didnt defend himself from someone trying to kill him. Geez wake up people. Its no wonder so much crime goes on nowdays, So few people believe in self defense anymore criminals have almost nothing to fear.

He didn't have a "get out of jail free card" he had a concealed carry permit and defended himself as is his constitutional right

It sounds like the guy deserved to be shot and the shooter had a permit to carry a gun. If more people would get permits and take action, this crap would stop!

So Mr Kitts gets off scot free again. This man must hav a "Get out a jail Free" card. Randy Nichols needs to open his eyes and charge this man. It's not if he kills someone its when.
