FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) -- Millitary officials are investigating the death of a Fort Campbell soldier who was found dead in his Army barracks three days after being stabbed.
Fort Campbell spokeswoman Cathy Gramling says 22-year-old Private Matthew Nicholson of the 101st Airborne Division was found by another soldier on Sunday.
Attorney Martha Carlton-Magana says Nicholson was trying to break up a fight among several soldiers outside his barracks on Thursday when he was stabbed in the chest.
Nicholson got national media attention when he was charged for intervening in a fight with a man he thought was assaulting two women in Modesto, California.
