KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Special prosecutors pressing a case against a widow in the death of her second husband want to exhume the body of her first husband, who also died.
The issue is whether Ed Dossett, who was the Knox County district attorney general, died from being trampled by his cattle, as the medical examiner stated in 1992.
Raynella Dossett Leath was charged with premeditated murder in 2006 in the death of her second husband, David Leath, who was shot to death in the bedroom of his home in 2003.
In a court paper supporting special prosecutor Steve Bebb's petition for an exhumation of Dossett's body, the medical examiner's office says Dossett's body contained high levels of morphine.
