Rural Metro Ambulance Involved in Crash

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) A Rural Metro ambulance suffered minor damage in a chain reaction crash on Cumberland Avenue just east of Alcoa Highway, near the entrance to Tyson Park.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m.

Rural Metro Chief Jerry Harnish say the ambulance was hit in the rear bumper as part of the chain reaction crash.

Rural Metro spokesperson Larry Wilder says the ambulance was not on a call at the time of the accident.

Wilder says one person was injured in the collision, but that person was not in the ambulance.

Harnish says the ambulance was put back in service after the accident.
