Fog May Be Factor in Fatal Crash Involving Knox Co. School Bus

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) Knox County Sheriff's investigators say this morning's heavy fog may have played a factor in an early morning crash that claimed the life of a young Knoxville man.

Investigators say Johnathon Manuel, 18, was driving south on John Sevier Highway about 6:45 a.m. this morning when he crossed the center line and hit Knox County school bus #62 head-on.

Manuel was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the bus suffered minor injuries.

There were no students on board the bus at the time of the crash.

Deputies say Manuel, who was a graduate of Gibbs High School was wearing a seat belt.

They say neither alcohol or speed played a factor in the crash.
