FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Steve Beshear has become the 61st governor of Kentucky. Beshear took office in a midnight ceremony that will be followed by a full day of festivities today.
Beshear said after his swearing-in at midnight last night that the state will face tough times in the days ahead but will be successful.
Today's events get started at 8 a.m. EST with a worship service, followed by a parade at 10 a.m., a public swearing-in at 2 p.m. and his inaugural address outside the Capitol. Three balls get under way in tents near the Capitol at 7:30 p.m., with the Grand March at 8 p.m. in the Capitol Rotunda.
