CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two housing industry manufacturers have announced closures that will leave about 230 workers without jobs in Cumberland County.
Jasper, Ind.-based MasterBrand Cabinets, Inc. announced it will close its Crossville facility in February and put more than 200 employees out of work.
Mission Viejo, Calif.-based Elixir Industries, which makes doors and windows, will consolidate manufacturing in a Georgia facility and will close at the end of the year, affecting about 30 workers.
Greg Stoner, MasterBrand's president, said the company needs to remain competitive during a prolonged downturn in the housing market.
