MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A family member of state Sen. Ophelia Ford says the Memphis Democrat has been in the hospital the past two weeks.
Joe Ford, one of her brothers, wouldn't elaborate Wednesday on why she's hospitalized, saying the family wants to handle the matter privately.
Station WMC in Memphis reported that Ford was in stable condition at Methodist University Hospital.
Ford, 57, has been plagued by health issues over the past year.
She said in March that she had a severe case of anemia that had caused her to miss much of the legislative session.
In May the Memphis Democrat was taken to a Nashville hospital by ambulance one day after delivering an angry, rambling tirade in a committee meeting.
She is a member of the politically prominent Ford family.
