Suspected hay thief nabbed in Sevier County

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) A suspected hay thief has been arrested in Sevier County.

We first told you about the thefts on December 6th.

Sevier County Planning Commission chairman Jack McMahan said he had 42 bales of hay stolen off his farm.

Each bale weighed 1700 pounds a piece.

Today, Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals said his department found 20 bales of the hay at a location in the Seymour area on December 13th.

John Vincent Trotter, 30, of Sevierville was arrested and charged with one count of theft over $1000.00.

Trotter was arraigned before a magistrate and a $2000.00 bond was set.

A preliminary hearing has not yet been set.
