Sevierville (WVLT) – Police in Sevier County finally arrested a Sevierville man who had been eluded them for a full day.

It happened on Wednesday when Sevierville Police got a tip that Calvin McMahan Jr., 41 was eating lunch at a BBQ restaurant on Winfield Dunn Parkway.

Just the day before, McMahan had gotten away from SPD and Maryville police officers who tried to serve him on outstanding warrants.

Officers attempted to arrest McMahan inside the restaurant but he fled through a rear door.

K9 Axel chased him down and police were able to take him into custody after a brief fight.

McMahan was charged with two counts of resisting arrest, two counts of assault and evading arrest.

He had eight outstanding warrants from the Maryville Police Department and another from Sevierville for felony theft.
