NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Testimony has concluded in the trial of a lawsuit brought by parents who claim the Wilson County school district promoted Christianity by supporting the activities of a parents' prayer group on campus.
Final testimony Thursday came from members of the Praying Parents, who intervened to make themselves defendants in the case.
Praying Parent member Jennifer Walker testified that the group just wants to have the same rights as any other group to use school facilities.
Lakeview Elementary school assistant principal Yvonne Smith testified Thursday that under a new principal, many of the contested activities of the Praying Parents group are no longer allowed.
