Knoxville Police identify suspect in fake dynamite-stick credit union robbery

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) Knoxville Police say they have identified a suspect who robbed a bank wearing a hard hat and carrying a fake stick of dynamite last Friday.

They just need your help in finding him.

Just before 4 p.m., Knoxville Police say Shabaaka Awolowo, 26, walked into the Covenant Health Credit Union located at 19th and White Streets and demanded money.

Police say Awolowo was carrying a fake explosive device that looked like a stick of dynamite.

Police say he left the device at the counter and fled with the money.

According to police, Awolowo is black with black hair and brown eyes.

He is approximately 5'11" tall and weighs 135 lbs.

Police say there are multiple outstanding warrants for this suspect for failure to appear.

Anyone with information on this robbery is asked to call the FBI at 865/544-0751, or the KPD at 865/215-7212.
