GREENVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A masked man attempting to rob a convenience store didn't have much persistence when faced with a stubborn clerk.
Police say the man entered the Creekside Market No. 1 in Greene County on Sunday shortly after 9 p.m.
One of the two clerks on duty told police a man wearing a hooded sweat shirt and a black mask placed a paper sack on the counter and said, "This is a stick up."
The clerk says he saw a long-bladed knife underneath the paper sack.
The clerk asked the suspect, "Are you kidding?" and then told the other clerk to call police.
The suspect fled, but police say customers in the store thought they recognized him.
