CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- About 35 Chattanooga-area Army Reserve members will be deployed to fill vacancies in other Reserve units headed overseas.
Colonel Keith Pickens says most of those called up from the 3397th Garrison Support Unit will fill gaps in a Nashville-based company preparing to leave for the Persian Gulf region.
Others will take vacancies in Reserve units from Georgia.
Pickens say the 3397th is scheduled to be disbanded in September and any members deployed at that time would be assigned to other units when they return.
He says that could lead to their earlier redeployment, however.
