LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A former Bellarmine University student from Indiana will remain free on bond after pleading not guilty in Louisville to murdering her newborn daughter and concealing the body.
A lawyer for 19-year-old Kathryn "Katie" McCoy of Plainfield, Ind., entered the plea for McCoy, who didn't speak during a brief hearing Monday in Jefferson County Circuit Court.
She's charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in the Oct. 23 incident. Police say McCoy gave birth to the baby in a toilet on Bellarmine's campus.
McCoy has been free on $50,000 bond since Oct. 26. Her next hearing is Jan. 30.
