LAFOLLETTE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Two corrections officers and a jail nurse were assaulted during a prisoner's escape at the Campbell County Jail this morning, according to Sheriff Gary Perkins.
The inmate, identified by the Sheriff as Shannon Allen Beaty was receiving medication when he allegedly overpowered a corrections officer and ran.
Sheriff Perkins says Beaty escaped from the building and scaled a perimeter fence.
He was apprehended within eight minutes.
One of the officers who was assaulted was sent to St. Mary's Hospital in Campbell County for treatment.
Sheriff Perkins says Beaty will face new charges.
Beaty was being held on a violation of probation.
