Madisonville, Monroe County (WVLT) - The TBI says the man suspected of stabbing three people in Madisonville has died from gunshot wounds.
TBI spokesperson Kristin Helm identifies the suspect as John K. Adams, 47. A Monroe County Sheriff's department spokesperson would only say he had been arrested before, and last faced a worthless checks charge.
Mia Rhodarmer from the Monroe County Advocate & Democrat is quoting a police source as saying officers stunned Adams twice with a Taser, but he did not stop, so they responded with gunfire.
Helm says preliminary reports are that police fired the shots that killed Adams. Three Monroe County Sheriff's deputies were on the scene with one Madisonville officer when the shots were fired.
Helm tells Volunteer TV News that 911 operators received a call just 5:00 this morning that the suspect broke into a home Old Highway 68 in Madisonville and stabbed three people.
The suspect, who was at the County Line Bar on Highway 411 called pastor and told him he wanted to give himself up to police.
According to reports from the scene, Adams was shot several times.
All three stabbing victims are reported to be in critical condition at UT Medical Center.
