CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- State and local authorities are investigating the police shooting of an armed man who was threatening customers in an East Tennessee restaurant over the weekend.
Police said an East Ridge officer shot and killed Kenneth R. Joyner early Sunday morning after getting a call that he was threatening patrons and employees at Canoes Burgers and More.
The incident is being investigated by the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Police Chief Eddie Phillips says the Georgia man, who was armed with a handgun and a knife, refused to surrender and was shot when he pointed his gun at the police officers.
