Tennessee AG approves Baptist/St. Mary's merger

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) The Tennessee Attorney General has cleared the way for the Baptist/St. Mary's merger to be finalized on January 1st, 2008.

The Attorney General approved the merger on the heels of an approval by the Federal Trade Commission.

Jeff Ashin will be the new CEO of the Metro Division of the hospitals as well as St. Mary's North and Baptist West Hopsitals.

Ashin is currently President and CEO of Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio.

St. Mary's COO Jack Bryan, will be come the new CEO of the Community Hospital Division which includes St. Mary's Hospitals in Jefferson City and Lafollette, and Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.

The new organization will have approximately 6,000 employees.
