KODAK, Tenn (WVLT) One person was pulled out of a burning vehicle in west Sevier County near the Knox County line, then flown to U.T. Medical Center for treatment.

The accident happened on Alex Bales Road at Smith School Road around 5:30 p.m.

A Sevier County Sheriff's deputy says the driver of the car lost control of his vehicle on Alex Bales Road after just missing a head-on collision with another vehicle.

His car went out of control, drove over a fence, and hit a tree.

The vehicle then caught on fire.

Deputies say the crash happened just down the road from the Northview Volunteer Fire Department.

He says deputies had just seen the man driving by at what they thought was a high rate of speed.

They were on the scene within seconds, and rescued the man. He was flown to U.T. Medical Center by Lifestar.

Deputies say speed and alcohol were likely factors in the accident.
