KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued for the mountains of east Tennessee with a WINTER STORM WARNING for western North Carolina.
Snow showers on Tuesday will increase in coverage and intensity by Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected in the higher elevations. A dusting of snow is also possible in the valley, especially north of Knoxville, on Tuesday night.
The coldest air of the season will accompany this approaching winter blast. Temperatures will hold in the 30's for highs Tuesday with highs on Wednesday only in the 20's. Wind chills in the valley will be near zero by Tuesday night, with wind chills in the higher terrain below zero !
Please take precautions including checking the coolant in your auto, providing pets with fresh water and checking traveling conditions on roads passing through the mountains.
