ROCKWOOD, Tenn (WVLT) A Pennsylvania company is expanding its operations in Rockwood, Tennessee, creating ten additional jobs in the process, according to a news release.
Horsehead Holding Corporation announced on Wednesday that they have started up a second kiln at the Rockwood operation.
Horsehead Holding Corporation is a leading U.S. producer of zinc metal and zinc oxide according to a news release.
The Horsehead facility in Rockwood is relatively new. They broke ground last December and became operational in December of this year.
The new zinc units from this new kiln will feed Horsehead's smelting operation in its Monaca, Pa., facility, which in turn will produce more zinc products.
"We are excited about this expansion which will allow us to grow our EAF dust recycling business by 15 percent by increasing our service to the growing mini-mill steel industry," said Jim Hensler, Horsehead's President & CEO.
