Fire damages Alcoa hotel

Alcoa (WVLT) - No one was hurt after a fire at a hotel in Alcoa.

Alcoa Firefighter Lieutenant Ron Bailey says the fire happened around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Royal Extended Stay on Airport highway. The fire started in a room on the third story in a heating and air wall unit. It took about 20 minutes to put the fire out, but the room is destroyed.

Three or four rooms on each side had smoke and water damage.

Two people were sleeping in the room at the time, but were awakened and were able to get out safely.
