FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) -- Williamson County Sheriff Ricky Headley is asking judges in Davidson and Williamson County to combine drug charges against him so he only has to go to trial once.
Headley's attorney, David Raybin, says he will file motions to consolidate 33 indictments in Davidson County with four indictments in Williamson County.
He says the main reason he wants to consolidate the cases is so Headley doesn't have to pay for two trials. Raybin also says the consolidation would give prosecutors only one chance to get a conviction.
The sheriff is accused of obtaining at least 1,900 painkillers without a prescription between October 2006 and January 2007 from Brooks Pharmacy in Nashville.
