MARYVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) A narcotics sting in Blount County puts two Knoxville residents behind bars, and could be evidence of a Kentucky-Tennessee drug connection.
Rodney D. Bullock, 29, and Amy Joy Maxwell, 36, were arrested Monday. Maxwell is charged with delivery of Oxycontin. Bullock is charged with criminal attempt to possess Oxycontin for resale, as well as possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Blount County Sheriff Jim Berrong says Bullock met an undercover cop at a business in Alcoa, Monday, and tried to buy 250 Oxycontin pills for $7,000.
Bullock was carrying a gun when he was arrested, Maxwell was found in the parking lot, according to Berrong.
Sheriff Berrong says both suspects were being supplied drugs from someone in Kentucky and they, in turn, distributed them in East Tennessee. He says both suspects were looking for a new supplier in East Tennessee.
Maxwell and Bullock are being held on bond until a January 16th hearing.
