Officers fired after arresting police chief

IRVINE, Ky. (AP) -- A central Kentucky town has fired two police officers who arrested their chief last week.

Irvine Mayor Ernest Farmer and city council members won't comment on their decision, and Police Chief James Crowe also declined to talk about the firings.

Police Captain Chris Cox and Officer Shaun Moore arrested Crowe on Dec. 31 on charges including intimidating a witness and resisting arrest.

Estill County Commonwealth's Attorney Heather Combs says Cox and Moore had received written warnings not to have contact with Estill County Constable Dennie Glenn Young after being subpoenaed to testify on Young's behalf at a bond hearing.
