Kentucky Band director pleads not guilty in teacher sex case

BENTON, Ky. (AP) -- A western Kentucky schoolteacher who's accused of having sex with a teenage student has pleaded not guilty.

The teacher is 37-year-old Marshall County High School band director Michael Colvett. He was arrested December 18th on charges of third-degree rape, second-degree sexual abuse, tampering with evidence and third-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Colvett is on administrative leave from Marshall County schools pending the outcome of the case.
