Teen charged with shooting at Asheville HS arrested in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) A teen wanted for firing a gun at Asheville (NC) High School on Tuesday was arrested as he got off a bus in Knoxville, Wednesday.

Sources tell Volunteer TV News Sherwayne Akeem Bascom, 16, was arrested as he got off a Greyhound bus in Knoxville Wednesday night. He was headed to New York.

Bascom is in custody at the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center. North Carolina authorities are en route to pick him up today, according to our source.

WLOS-TV in Asheville reports Bascom is wanted for firing a gun at an Asheville High School student with whom he was arguing.

WLOS-TV also reports he will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm on school property.
