UPDATE: Arrest made in Saturday night murder

New Market, Jefferson County (WVLT) – The man wanted for Saturday evening’s murder in Jefferson County has been taken into custody.

The Jefferson County Sheriffs Department confirms Robert Fletcher Sr., 52, was arrested around 8:00 AM Sunday morning in Limestone, Tennessee.

Investigators say Fletcher killed his 44 year old girlfriend on Saturday, around 5:15 PM at a house on Betty Lou Drive.

Her identity and cause of death have not been released.

Charges against Fletcher are still pending.

The sheriff’s department, attorney generals office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate.
