10-year-old Roane County heart transplant recipient may return home this week

Nashville (WVLT) - A 10-year-old Roane County boy who received a new heart about a month ago is hoping to be back home in East Tennessee this week.

Mason Kelley underwent a heart transplant at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital after learning he had
Cardio-miopathy.

Since then, Mason has been recovering at an apartment in Nashville visiting his doctor twice a week.

Mason's mother Brooke Kelley told Volunteer TV he seems to have a lot of energy.

He's due for a heart biopsy this Wednesday.

If everything goes well, the family hopes he'll be able to go home this week.
