Reward offered for torture, killing of puppy

MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) -- The United States Humane Society is offering $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for torturing and killing a German Shepherd-mix puppy.

Union County Sheriff's deputies found the eight month old puppy hanged and shot five times on Beeler Hollow Road, in Maynardville, last Thursday morning.

Deputies believe the dog was hung first, then shot, because there was a substantial pool of blood below the puppy.

Deputies believe the puppy was a family pet based on his shiny, clean coat.
