Feds: Two Y-12 guards caught sleeping on the job in past four years

OAK RIDGE, Tenn (WVLT) -- Two security guards at Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge were found snoozing at their post, according to federal authorities.

National Nuclear Security Administration spokesman Steve Wyatt says the instances span back four years.

The guards worked for the government's security contractor, Wackenhut Services Incorporated. Wyatt says one guard was fired, the other got a 30-day supsension without pay.

Wyatt says Y-12 won't tolerate sleeping on the job. He also says the two incidents aren't representative of all security personnel.

Not a big surprise, my former neighbor used to brag all the time about sleeping on the job. In fact he wanted me to tape football games to watch while he was working. I was shocked. He told me that he reads books, watches videos and sleeps while working. Thank God someone is finally reporting on this. You wouldn't believe what is going on.
