FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) -- Fort Campbell officials say another three soldiers from the post have been killed in Iraq, raising the total to six deaths in eight days.
The U.S. Department of Defense says the soldiers were killed by small arms fire while conducting operations Wednesday in Salahuddin, northwest of Diyala. Two other soldiers were wounded and evacuated to a coalition hospital.
Military officials are also investigating the deaths of three other Fort Campbell soldiers who were gunned down during a three-hour firefight in the same province last week.
The incident is being investigated to determine whether the soldiers were killed by the enemy or by U.S. troops in friendly fire.
