Former Tennessee teacher found not guilty in sex abuse case

SPRING HILL, Tenn. (AP) -- A Maury County jury has acquitted a former Spring Hill teacher on charges of sexual battery with a 15-year-old student.

It's the second trial for 52-year-old Jerry Len Angus who was charged in a five-count indictment last May.

Charges were dismissed at the first trial Dec. 11 by Judge Jim T. Hamilton because the victim failed to testify.

Defense Attorney John Colley said he believed the jury, which issued its ruling on Monday, returned the verdict because the victim changed her story several times and her testimony wasn't credible.

Angus faces one more trial in Maury County on the indictments and similar charges in Nashville for alleged crimes committed there.
