Two arrested in connection with attempted holdup of Grainger bank

WASHBURN, Tenn (WVLT) -- Two people are in custody less than six hours after the attempted robbery of a Grainger County bank.

Police found both suspects in a wooded area of Luttrell in Union County, off Hwy 370 and Hwy. 61 at Texas Hollow Road.

Grainger County Sheriff's deputies and the FBI were called to a bank robbery of the Citizen Bank and Trust in Washburn around 10:30 a.m.

The bank is located at the intersection of Washburn Road and Hwy.131

Deputies say the robbers used a shotgun to try to rob the bank, but fled without any money.

If you see the suspect, don't try to approach him. Call 9-1-1 immediately.
