Sevier County controlled fire gets out of hand

SEYMOUR, SEVIER COUNTY (WVLT) – Attempts to demolish a Seymour home ravaged by fire were successful, but not before fire crews spent an hour trying to save surrounding home.

It happened early Sunday afternoon on Stott Lane when the people demolishing the home a controlled burn got out of hand.

Multiple engines from the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene to get the blaze back under control.

They succeeded and the fire finished off the original home.

Coincidentally, the address of the demolished property showed up on arrest report of one of the more than 30 people picked up in Friday’s Sevier County drug sweep

John P. Pierce, who was charged with selling a counterfeit controlled substance, gave the address as his home.

There is no word if he actually lived in the house that burned, or another on the property.
