Knox County (WVLT) - The Knox County Sheriff's Department says one woman is lucky to be alive after her car slammed into a utility pole in South Knox County.

The accident happened around 4:30 Friday morning on Marine Road, just off Chapman Highway.

Rescue crews from Seymour Volunteer Fire Department had to cut the young woman from her car.

She spent a day in the hospital and was eventually released home to recover.

Investigators did not say what may have caused the crash.
