Missing East Tennessee teen found with soldier

ERWIN, Tenn. (AP) -- A 15-year-old girl who went missing over the weekend has been found with a 21-year-old soldier in East Tennessee.

The Hampton girl was dropped off at a high school dance on Saturday and had not been seen since. Police received a tip early Thursday morning that she was in Erwin.

Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes says the girl was found unharmed with Edwin Sherrill, an Army soldier based at Fort Drum, N.Y.

The soldier has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and could face other military charges. It was not immediately known if he was on leave.

The girl faces juvenile charges of being a runaway.
