Tractor trailer burns in Jefferson County

Investigators say about 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, the brakes on a fully loaded moving company's 18-wheeler caught fire, on the westbound ramp to Exit 417.

DANDRIDGE, Tenn (WVLT) -- All lanes of Interstate 40 in Jefferson County are back open, following an overnight tractor trailer fire that closed traffic in that area.

Investigators say about 1:30 a.m., the brakes on a fully loaded moving company's 18-wheeler caught fire, on the westbound ramp to Exit 417.

The fire quickly spread to the tires and then the trailer which was engulfed in flames within minutes.

Crews from three fire departments responded to the fire which took nearly half an hour to contain.

No one was injured.
